The Tree Indentification Book by George Symonds, ISBN 0688050395 : A new method for the practical identification and recognition of trees -- and an important supplement to existing botanical methods. The book is in two parts: Pictorial Keys and Master Pages. The Keys are designed for easy visual comparison of details which "look alike," narrowing the identification of a tree to one of a small group -- the family or genus. Then, in the Master Pages, the species of the tree is determined, with similar details placed together to highlight "differences" within the family group, thus eliminating all other possibilities. The details of the Oak trees on this plate are an example of the system. All of the more than 1500 photographs were made specifically for use in this book and were taken either in the field or of carefully collected specimens. Where possible, details such as leaves, fruit, etc., appear in actual size, or in the same scale.

The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/450D Companion : This book walks the user through all of the features of their camera. But rather than simply stepping through each button, dial, and menu item, the reader is taken through the fundamentals of photography, and taught how to see, think, and work in a way that will lead them to better pictures. At each step, they are introduced to the controls on their camera that are needed for each photographic process. More than just a technical guide, this book is a photo class, but one that speaks in very specific camera terms. This book is appropriate for photographers of many levels, but will be best for beginning to intermediate shooters. In Ben's experience, many digital photographers today learned on all-manual cameras, and so never learned many photography fundamentals that used to be required understanding before you could even begin. Consequently, this book is appropriate even for digital photographers with a fair amount of experience.

The Narcissistic Family: Diagnosis and Treatment by Stephanie Donaldson-Pressman, ISBN 0787908703 : New Hope for Treating Adults Who Have Grown Up in Emotionally Abusive Families In this compelling book, the authors present an innovative therapeutic model for understanding and treating adults from emotionally abusive or neglectful families families the authors call narcissistic. Narcissistic families have a parental system that is, for whatever reason (job stress, alcoholism, drug abuse, mental illness, physical disability, lack of parenting skills, self-centered immaturity), primarily involved in getting its own needs met. The children in such narcissistic family systems try to earn love, attention and approval by satisfying their parents needs, thus never developing the ability to recognize their own needs or create strategies for getting them met. By outlining the theoretical framework of their model and using dozens of illustrative clinical examples, the authors clearly illuminate specific practice guidelines for treating these individuals.
When Your Family's Lost a Loved One: Finding Hope Together : All families eventually face the loss of a loved one. When it happens, it can place great strain on a marriage, as well as on other relationships. That's partly because we don't know what to do with our feelings and partly because every family member grieves in his or her own way. In this book, Nancy and David Guthrie explore the family dynamics involved when a loved one dies--and debunk some myths about family grief. Through their own experiences of losing two young children and interviews with those who've faced losing spouses and parents, they show how grief can actually pull a family closer together rather than tearing it apart.
